Safety - British Surfing Association Approval

Cornwall Surf Academy have achieved the safety standards to be approved by the National Governing Body of the Sport, the British Surfing Association (BSA).

To achieve this status the following has to be provided:

BSA qualified surf coaches
Qualified beach lifeguards
Public liability insurance (5 million pounds)
Maximum number 10 pupils per instructor
Risk assessments of the beach / teaching environment
Emergency Action Plan
Criminal Records Bureau checks

Each of these criteria, along with the ongoing assessment by the BSA of the surf provider, contributes to the safety of participants.

In addition, the Cornwall Surf Academy owner is a qualified Physical Education teacher and a member of Sports Coach UK.

Beginners should also note that the first few sessions will be taken in a maximum of chest depth water and the surf coach / lifeguard is in the water too.
